Christmas seems to have come around so fast, don't you think?

This is our first year with 2 children and it's more fun now he is older and understands the things that go with Christmas, like decorating the  tree and watching the lights on it.

We want to start some of our own family Christmas traditions so this week we will be making a tree decoration for Daddy, Mummy and self.  We will make Daddy's for him because he is at work.  The baby can maker her own when she turns 3.

What family traditions do you have?  We'd love to hear them.  We have a great set of children's books to give away for the most interesting tradition (as judged by me).

We don't have an advent calendar and don't really want to start a tradition of having one where the surprise inside for each day is a sweet/lolly or chocolate?  I was thinking of having something silly the person who opens it has to do (like smile at everyone you see to day or say merry Christmas to everyone you see today) or a statement of something nice about them (you have beautiful eyes).
