How to Prevent nappy rash

First a little about nappy rash. Nappy rash is often caused by the bacteria and/or acid in the baby's excretions aggravating the skin. There are a number of things that make this worse:

* mainstream disposable nappies - because they keep the heat inside the nappy
* teething - the toxins and acid produced by the gums creates a rash on the face and bottom of some children
* babies that have sluggish or under developed digestive systems
* inadequate diet, not enough micro minerals

Preventing Leakage

Leakage is bound to happen from time to time, especially for the newborn.

Here are a few tips and accessories that will help prevent this.

* Use a Dri Liner in the cloth nappies and a Bio Liner in the disposable nappies. These draw moisture away from the skin and keep the baby dry. Bio Liners can also be used in the cloth nappies.

* Use a Bio Liner if you want to flush away the poo and put your biodegradable nappy in the worm farm.

* For night times a woollen overpant allows the skin to still breath and is very absorbent, up to 30% of its weight can be held in fluid. Because it breaths some of the urine will evaporate.
